Harry Thaler:
Harry Thaler's work explores the world through reinvented objects and juxtapositions with a surprising and charming elegance. His elaborate designs are built on a foundation of traditional techniques and high quality craftsmanship creating a sensation of timelessness in his work. Harry’s background as goldsmith and craftsman has a strong effect on his design process. Therefore a rich and layered body of work emerges implying functionality and elegance as essential characteristics. Harry graduated from the Royal College of Art in Product Design in June 2010 and was praised with the Conran Award 2010 as well as with the Interior Innovation Award 2011 in Cologne for his Pressed Chair. Apart from taking part in numerous exhibitions and fairs, Harry has also been commissioned for various public and private projects. Since 2008 he is based in London and has opened his own studio.

Hang it on the Wall
This series of lightbulb shaped lamps speaks to our nostalgia and responds to the phasing out of the iconic Edisson lightbulb. The object is inseparable from its metaphorical connotations; Edison’s lightbulb represents ‘the lightbulb’ to our generation and simultaneously symbolises the moment of epiphany in pictorial form. The shape of the lamp is an act of preservation, it retains the iconic lightbulb whilst still moving with the times. Given the growing realisation of the threat our habits pose to our planet humans have been forced to take a more ecological approach to energy use.Materials used: Borosilicate glass, halogen bulb

The converted oil barrels remind us of colossal, crushed drink cans. The oil barrel seat invites you to sit back and relax but simultaneously seems grotesque and surreal given its political agenda. Made out of contemporary memorials, the barrels refer to the oil war and piles of rubbish.

Stopp it
The drain plugs of kayaks easily get lost in the whitewater. Followed by: nerve-wracking searches for a suitable locking parts. Stopp it is a product that putsan end to this search. The solution of this problem is as easy as brilliant. The standard drain plugs are replaced by the usual thread of a common plastic bottle. Now every top fits!

Glas gib Gas
The material glass is taken out of context: the functional aspect comes hand in hand with its aesthetic. The glass gas cooker has the advantage that it saves space due to its mobility.
Material: Pirexglass
Jump
The aim was to create an innovative lamp which would include the following features: space-saving, adjustable height and with a simplistic appearance. The most striking challenge was to create a kind of floor lamp that would stand without a base. The product of this reflection is the lamp <jump>, an object that dynamically connects the floor with the ceiling, always under tension, captured by the room. <jump> consists of a height adjustable lamp supported by a flexible fibreglass construction with the shape of an arch clamped between ceiling and floor. It can be moved and fixed with little physical effort and thus, is adaptable to the needs of any given room.
